When Jack van Gestel joined Woningborg as IT manager in 2018, it quickly became clear that extra capability was needed. Internal capacity was limited, while the organization depends heavily on stable IT, secure infrastructure and reliable support. What started as support on network management and technical infrastructure grew in the years that followed into a broad collaboration. Reliance now supports Woningborg on multiple fronts, from service desk and remote management to consultancy, security, compliance and project support.Woningborg's internal IT team consists of three people. That is why the organization deliberately spreads knowledge and capacity across multiple specialists. "We're too small to cover everything well ourselves. One internal person is a vulnerability, you become dependent on holidays, availability or specific knowledge. With Reliance, that continuity is there."
The trigger was clear: there was simply too much work to absorb internally. Especially in network management, infrastructure and daily support, there was a need for a partner who would not just execute, but think along and take responsibility.At the same time, requirements around security, compliance and legislation kept growing. As a regulated organization, Woningborg has to meet guidelines such as DORA. That calls for structure, demonstrability and an IT environment that keeps functioning reliably.

Employees need to be able to rely on systems that work, processes that hold up and support that stays reachable.At the same time, the organization wanted to avoid knowledge sitting with just one person. The challenge was therefore not only about management, but also about scalability, flexibility and keeping oversight. "You don't want to depend on one internal resource. You want a team that strengthens and covers for each other when needed."
Reliance now structurally supports Woningborg with multiple consultants and specialists. Every month, the teams align on work, priorities and projects together, which keeps lines short and knowledge well distributed within the team.The collaboration includes onsite consultancy, remote workplace management, service desk and daily support, patch management and periodic reviews, server and licence management, support on security and compliance, and projects such as SharePoint and cloud migrations. The collaboration around security was also expanded further, including support on procedures, operational work instructions and periodic reviews related to laws and regulations. "We have to do what we say and say what we do. It helps enormously to have a partner who is not only technically strong, but who also helps set up processes properly."
