Customer context
De Schoor is one of the largest social welfare organizations in Almere. With more than 340 employees, hundreds of volunteers, and 29 locations, the organization supports local residents on a wide range of social issues every day. This scale also brings IT challenges. Nearly every employee works digitally, and all locations are interconnected. "You simply cannot function without IT anymore," says Roelf Westman. "Every employee works with a laptop and a monitor. Everything is mobile and wireless. IT has become a fundamental requirement."
Twenty years ago, De Schoor reached the limits of its internal IT capacity. With only one IT employee, it became increasingly difficult to adequately support the organization. "At that point, you face a choice: do you build a complete in-house IT department, or do you outsource it? For us, outsourcing was the most logical choice."Following a tender process, De Schoor selected Brightcare (now Reliance). What began as operational support evolved into a long-term partnership focused on continuity, workplace management, security, and user support.

Challenge
For an organization like De Schoor, IT must be reliable without drawing attention to itself. Employees should be able to work without having to think about technology. At the same time, demands regarding security and availability continue to increase. Cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated, while dependence on digital tools continues to grow. "Phishing, cyber intrusions, and security risks are real challenges. You have to stay focused on them continuously." In addition, De Schoor wanted to avoid becoming dependent on the knowledge of individual employees. Continuity had to be guaranteed, even during absences or illness.
Reliance supports De Schoor across multiple areas of its IT environment, ranging from workplace management and infrastructure to security and user support.A key element of the partnership is the service desk. Reliance provides first-line support, ensuring that questions and issues are addressed quickly, allowing the internal team to focus on other priorities. Reliance also helps strengthen the organization's digital resilience. Devices are continuously monitored, irregularities are identified at an early stage, and security measures are continuously improved. "What Reliance delivers is a solid workplace that works 99.9% of the time. That may seem obvious, but it really isn't."
Approach
Collaboration
According to Roelf, what sets the partnership apart is not only technical expertise but also the way people work together. "It has become much less formal than it used to be. Someone from Reliance is here every Tuesday and now feels like a colleague."These short communication lines create trust and speed. Employees know exactly who to call, and questions are addressed quickly. "We communicate easily with each other. No distance, no complicated procedures. That fits our organization perfectly."

Results and future development
According to De Schoor, the greatest benefit of the partnership is not new technology, but peace of mind. "It provides reliability and security. Ultimately, that is what you want IT to achieve."Thanks to a stable IT foundation, employees can focus on their work, while clients never have to worry about technology. In fact, when IT functions properly, they do not notice it at all. That is precisely the strength of the partnership: not IT that demands attention, but IT that provides support. Not isolated solutions, but a reliable foundation that evolves alongside the organization. As a result, employees can do their work, volunteers receive the support they need, and residents get the help they require. Today, tomorrow, and in the long term.
