The direct trigger for change came when the existing VPN connection started causing problems. "Our people work everywhere: on the train, at clients or on public wifi. You need to be able to trust that everything keeps working safely."At the same time, the impact of new regulation kept growing. Since January, the organisation has had to comply with the European DORA guidelines on digital resilience and security. That created the need for a solution that was safer, more stable and easier to manage.

Together with Reliance, the organisation chose a Zero Trust approach with Zscaler Internet Access and Zscaler Private Access. Implementation was fast and straightforward. Little changed for employees, apart from the old VPN disappearing. "We sent an email saying everyone would now work through Zscaler. After that, it basically ran itself."With Zscaler, all internet traffic is checked and secured, regardless of where employees work. Suspicious activity or unwanted connections are blocked automatically. The new environment also better supports DORA compliance, AFM guidelines, secure remote access and central control over internet traffic. Alongside technology, security awareness remains important within the organisation, which is why additional awareness training is provided for employees.
